Kao Thai opened this summer in the old City of Columbia Fire Department Headquarters and they've brought some fantastic Thai recipes with them.
The Vista is chock full of dining options to suite any taste and any budget. From burgers and fries, pizza and subs to oysters and bbq, the Vista is quickly becoming food central in Columbia and Kao Thai is just another addition to that culinary diversity.
Let’s start by talking about the atmosphere! Kao Thai is a casual spot that’s fit for a business lunch or a date night. The waiters are professional and the food has wowed us every time.
Speaking of the food… the owners of Kao Thai have brought in a chef from Thailand that knows how to infuse authentic flavors from Thailand into dishes that also appeal to the American south. Our favorite pick is the pork belly noodles. If you haven’t had pork belly… think bacon… but better! The dish features a generous helping of pork belly with Thai noodles a chile sauce, steamed bok choy, and green onions sprinkled with toasted garlic and cilantro. Could you find this exact dish in Thailand? Maybe not, but the Thai flavor is all there and it’s like nothing else you’ll find in the Vista.
With entrees ranging in price from $6 to $20, there’s something for everyone to eat or drink at Kao Thai. Let’s not forget their extensive cocktail menu! Check them out here!
