Learn how to Salsa with Elite Ballroom Dance Academy in Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month
Did you know that September 15th to October 15th is National Hispanic Heritage Month?!
Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the histories, cultures and contributions of Hispanic Americans. These are the American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean.
Within this thirty-day period, there are many celebrations. Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua all celebrate their independence on September 15th. Mexico’s Independence Day is on September 16th and Chile’s is on September 18th.
Hispanic Heritage Month gives us the chance to celebrate the cultures that shape Hispanic people across the United States’ national experience and identity.
When we think of the things that shape each unique culture, dance is usually near the top of our list.
Columbia’s Elite Ballroom Dance Academy is a competitive dance studio that follows the general rules and categories of ballroom dance studios around the world. Dances like the Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep and Tango make up the standard dances. The Bolero and Mambo are also competition dances.
The Latin dances include the Samba, Cha Cha, Rumba, Paso Doble and Jive. They also teach popular Caribbean dances like the Salsa, Merengue and Batchata. These dances derive from Hispanic cultures in South America, Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean.
Through Elite Ballroom Dance Academy, Jamie and Stephano, offer classes, private lesson and dance parties. So, learn a new dance! Embrace a new culture!
