The Lunch Meet crew headed to the famous front porch of Five Points, Pawleys Front Porch, to chow down on some of the best burgers in Columbia.
These burgers are big! So big, in fact, that they come served with steak knives jammed in the middle of them to hold them together. “First of all, it just looks cool,” Pawleys Kitchen Manager Christian Smith said. “You plant it (the knife) in there, it gives it a nice, stable feel, and it’s aesthetically pleasing.”
These burgers are also big in name, as each one is named after a different island in South Carolina.
Jared chose the Beaufort, which comes topped with a fried egg, apple cured ham, lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, and a Frank’s Red Hot onion ring.
“I’m in love with having an egg on my burger, so that’s delicious,” Jared said.
Clint went with the Fripp, which comes topped with Southern salsa, Boursin cheese, lettuce, red onion, and a fried green tomato.
“If you like fried green tomatoes, you’ll love this.” Clint said. “It’s really tasty. You’ll flip for a Fripp.”
The team at Pawleys says that it’s the freshness of the ingredients that gives each of their burgers that distinctive Pawleys taste.
“We get the whole chuck back there and I cut it up in a meat grinder and we season it ourselves,” Smith said. “We do it every day, so they’re all made fresh.”
So if you’re in the mood for a tasty burger, head on down to Pawleys Front Porch at 827 Harden Street in Columbia’s Five Points.
