Want to visit history? Historic Camden has an app for that

There is just about an app for everything these days, and now there is an app that can locate hundreds of historical sites.

The City of Camden’s Archives and Museum just launched a smartphone app. The Camden Audio Tours App has the ability to guide you through a tour of more than 100 historical sites in Camden.

The app is available for free download for both Android and the iPhone

You will find tours through nine different districts in Camden and view details on historic markers, homes, cemeteries and more that date back to the Revolutionary War.

The app includes tours of these Camden historical sites:

Colonial District, Downtown District
Monument Square District
Campbell Street Corridor
Kendall Mill District
Hampton Square District
Horse Country District
Rectory Square District
Hobkirk’s Hill District

Visit ClassicallyCarolina.com for more information about the app, as well as links to download the app.

“We have the most Antebellum homes in South Carolina, and coupled with our historic battlefields and other historic structures for storied sites in Camden, the app gives visitors and history buffs plenty to see and learn, even when some of our private sites aren’t open to the public,” said Suzi Sale, director of tourism for the City of Camden.

We visited the Camden Archives and Museum recently… It’s a super cool place, check it out!

And if you’re out touring the historic sites in Camden, you’d enjoy the oldest diner Broad Street Lunch Sandwich Shop.
