This Little Theater in Sumter is Putting on Some Big Productions!

For over 40 years the Sumter Little Theater has been were this big town's creative minds gather to create great art!

Community theatre in Sumter, South Carolina started in 1941 and is going strong in this iteration as the Sumter Little Theatre.

A live production of any sorts takes a team of talented individuals working behind the scenes and on stage so that the show goes off without a hitch. The Sumter Little Theatre team is a family made up of members from all around the City of Sumter and even airmen from Shaw Airforce Base.

We had the opportunity to take a behind the scenes tour of the Sumter Little Theatre and got to see the whole production family in action. The theatre’s executive director, Eric Bultman, introduces us to some of the volunteer leaders that bring the diverse talents of Sumter’s community together to create something special.

Sylvia Pickell, the theatre’s costumer, says the little theatre is all about family, “we love everybody and we support everybody, everybody is welcome here and we’ll find something for you to do.”

Being able to be behind the scenes as performers and stage crew alike running to and fro to prepare for the show may have been almost as exciting as watching the show for ourselves.
That being said, we highly recommend checking out the Sumter Little Theatre, it’s definitely¬†worth the trip.
