The Lunch Meet crew buckles their seatbelts as they board the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile

This Lunch Meet is courtesy of the happiest place on earth for empty stomachs - the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.

It’s a world-famous icon that’s instantly recognizable, and quite frankly it’s the coolest car on the planet.

America’s favorite hotdog-shaped vehicle the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile made a pit stop in Columbia, and it got a warm reception from kids both young and old.

The Wienermobile has been around since 1936, but its purpose is still as fresh as ever: bringing “miles of smiles” to fans around the country.

Everyone instantly recognizes the exterior of the 27-foot-long hot dog on wheels, but what’s on the inside of the Wienermobile?

We go inside the bun and take a behind-the-scenes tour and ride along with Hotdoggers Connor O’Neil and Josie Balderrama. (Hotdoggers are what Oscar Mayer calls the drivers of their Wienermobiles.)

One step inside of the airplane-like door and it’s clear that the inside of the Wienermobile is just as flashy as its outside.  We were greeted by a flat-screen TV, mustard-covered floors, and a blue-sky ceiling equipped with a “bun roof.”  We took a seat in custom ketchup red and mustard yellow upholstered seats embroidered with Wienermobile logos on the backs and armrests.

We fastened our “meatbelts” and before we knew it, we were on a roll!

The Wienermobile truly has all the bells and whistles that you would expect a rolling legend to have. And when I say whistles, I mean that literally.  Hotdoggers hand out Oscar Mayer’s famous Wiener Whistles to fans at every stop they make.

The bottom line is when it comes to food-shaped vehicles, the Wienermobile is the Top Dog.

Without a doubt, touring the legendary Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is an experience that we will relish for a long, long time to come!
