The City of Sumter comes alive with holiday spirit, and this year we were there to see what the festivities were all about!
Since 1989 Swan Lake in downtown Sumter erects one of the most vibrant holiday light displays we’ve seen, but that’s not all that’s happening in Sumter this holiday season!
Here are just a few events coming up this weekend!
- Have a Polar Express Pajama Party at Sumter’s historic opera house this Friday, December 14th from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Enjoy hot cocoa and cookies before seeing the Christmas classic “Polar Express.” Admission costs just $5.
- Jingle with the Arts also begins Friday, December, 14 at 7:00 pm and ends at 7:00 pm Saturday the 15th. Jingle with the Arts is Sumter’s largest community Christmas Extravaganza, celebrating the holidays with song and dance from the Sumter Civic Dance Company and the Sumter High School Show Choir.
- This Saturday experience the holidays of old at the Carolina Backcountry Christmas event from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. See what life was like in the early 19th century, with blacksmithing, spinning and weaving, and period game demonstrations. You can also experience roasting chestnuts over an open fire… Like the song!
There is so much more going on in Sumter this month, from visits with Santa and Christmas shopping expos we are just going to link you to their event calendar so you can plan your own wonderful Sumter Christmas experience.
