Donut worry, National Donut Day has sweet deals to help you celebrate

June 7 is National Donut Day, the perfect way to add a little sweetness to the end of the work week.

National Donut Day was created in honor of the Salvation Army’s Donut Lassies who served donuts during World War I to soldiers. Offers.com surveyed more than 1,000 U.S. adults to see which type of donuts and donut chains reigned supreme in their opinions.

In the category for donut type: Glazed received 36 percent of votes, Boston Cream received 23 percent, Jelly-filled received 15 percent, Sprinkles received 10 percent, Powdered received nine percent and Twist received eight percent. In the donut chain category: Krispy Kreme received 42 percent of votes, Dunkin received 38 percent, Tim Hortons and Daylight Domuts received seven percent and Top Pot Doughnuts and Honey Dew Donuts received three percent.
